Chronic pulmonary heart disease is a heart disease caused by chronic lesions of lung tissue, pulmonary artery or thorax, resulting in abnormal lung tissue structure and function, increased pulmonary vascular resistance, increased pulmonary artery pressure, dilation and hypertrophy of the right heart, with or without right heart failure. The vast majority of patients with cor pulmonale in China occur on the basis of chronic bronchitis or emphysema.
